I want to share with you some details of my wedding, little things that one cannot appreciate in regular pictures. All of the pictures were taken by friends and relatives.

(on Tuesday, I couldn't wait any longer)

And the big day arrived. July 9, 2011. We got married!

It was a wonderful day that we enjoyed until the end. Our family and friends were there supporting us on that big step we were about to make. And we did it. And it was great. And we are now living together in Texas.

This is the step by step of that day (pictures taken by my friends and relatives):

 

 

* Following the Spanish tradition, the Best Man came to my parents' place and read something nice to me before giving me the bouquet.

* The priest was a friend of mine, he let us pick everything for the ceremony and apart from that he wrote our story in a poem, the longest and nicest poem I have ever read. Thank you so much, Manel!

* It may be weird but nobody took pictures during the dance... I'll post some when I received the official ones :)

Here you are the final wedding invitations. We have already given them to all our guests so now I can proudly show them to you. They are 100% handmade: designed, trimmed, sewn, cut, and printed at home.

We made the invitation itself, a map to get to the place, and a card with our contact information.

The text was printed on onion skin paper, and hand sewn to lace fabric (similar to the one used to make my dress) with green embroidery yarn.

We also sent a "Save The Date", but we did it by email. Here is how it looked:

Back to the real world

I finished my exams last Thursday, and that means that I'm officially on HOLIDAYS! Yay! I needed them to arrive so bad, it has been a hard year. Honestly I have to say that these last five exams are the first ones that I feel I am going to pass since I started my studies, cool, but weird, maybe I'm becoming more optimistic, maybe it's just the wedding air that surrounds me that makes me feel like that. Who nows?

Ok, what to do now? Definitely, focus on the wedding. Some things are not done yet... 

Like what? Like the kits I want to make for the kids coming to the wedding for them not to get bored. They always finished their food faster than adults so I think that having on their table some drawing, creative kits would be perfect. I am sewing a bag for each of them with some supplies and putting together some paper, glue, crayons, pencils, drawing and blank paper, among other fun stuff.

I also have to go buy some bubble soap and order the petals our guests are going to throw to us when we get out of the church, finish the favours (this will be done three days before the wedding because we don't want chocolate to melt :), and right now I cannot think of anyhing else, but I'm sure I am missing something...

Anyway, I have to go back to my sewing machine.

...on Friday :)

Yes, I know I'm two days late but I'm super busy: group projects, several translations every week, preparing material for the kids and so on.

However, I have had time to make appointments for the week V will be here and I can happily say that I'm finishing the wedding invitations!

Next step: drawing the "how-to-get-there" map and designing our first personal cards.

Lots of things to do... still work in progress in this matter. Anyway, patience and late night work.

Yes, I know today is just monday but I have a lot of news to share so I'll do it in different posts. Today's post is about wedding bands. Why is it so complicated to pick one?

I have been checking some sites and all I have been able to find is this:1. Diamonds 2. Simple 3. Graved

Does that mean that I have to pick my style among those three? What if I don't like none of them? What if the one I like is so expensive that I cannot afford it? What if... Can I stop saying what if?

Does my ring have to match his in material or style? Do we have to agree on what we want to put on our fingers for the rest of our lives or is it better that each one of us pick what one likes?

I'm in trouble. My head is a completely mess. I don't even know what I like. Too much information, maybe.

I should take it easy.

Hi, all!

I feel sweet-tooth today so... I've been looking for wedding cakes.

First of all, I have to say that I have found some nice wedding blogs that I'll share with you very soon because today I'm gonna introduce you only one: Style Me Pretty. It's the perfect inspiration for your wedding! Me, I went straight to the "cakes" category and found a few that I liked:

Isn't it the cutest? I have to be honest, I have it in my "Wed-Journal" but I don't remember where I found it. My old computer passed away and with him all the sites I had bookmarked. So, if anyone knows where I found it, please, tell me.

Going through all those delicious cakes has make me want to bake my own: my first brownie! I'll let you all know how it turns out.

Bueno, bueno... he tenido que contratar a una ayudante: mi madre ;D Está de baja por que le han operado de un bultito que tenía en la palma de la mano pero le queda la otra mano libre y, además, está que se sube por las paredes del aburrimiento. Acostumbrada a no parar en todo el día... Bien, ella será la que llame para pedir presupuestos/precios, sólo tengo que dejarle apuntado los números de teléfono.

Ahora, necesito vuestra ayuda. Quiero utilizar unos marcos de foto, como para fotos de carnet, de este estilo pero en color plata
y no sé donde encontrarlos, ¿alguna idea? Necesito unos 80 y no importa si no són todos con el mismo grabado.

Bien, tenemos los colores, el restaurante, la ermita y el vestido escogido; el mesero, los STDs, las invitaciones, los nombres en las mesas y los detalles pensados; el resto de cosas, sin mirar. Pero, creo que voy bien, todavía tengo tiempo!

En cuanto al mesero, me gustaría hacerlo con blondas de pastel, en la que los nombres estarán escritos con una letra de caligrafía preciosa (pues lo escribirá mi madre) y el número será de madera negra, sobre un lienzo de color azul (el de la carta de color de la semana pasada). Qué os parece? No hay foto porque es una idea que tengo en mente, la he medio probado y queda bien, elegante y vintage, vamos, perfecto!

Bien, pues porque durante esta Semana Santa he tenido tiempo de bloggear bastante y el blog French Charming me llevó al de la fotógrafa Yvette Inufio cuyos coloros empolvados y la dulzura de sus fotos me cautivaron. Aquí tenéis una muestra pero os invito a pasearos por su blog o su tienda Etsy.

Wednesday again! Time goes by faaast! I can't believe that the term is gonna finish in two weeks and I'm gonna be taking my exams in three weeks! So scary! :S

But the good thing is that I have crossed another thing of my "things to do before the wedding". Wanna guess? The most important thing for me (and for every bride): the dress! I have already picked it! I'm so excited! I look so beautiful! Now I just have to wait until next year to try it on again. I have never thought that it would be so easy, I thought it would take me years to find the right one...

Anyway, one less thing to do.

Next step: save the date and wedding invitations. I have some ideas in mind, so I have to make some samples to see how they look like.

Habemus restaurante!!!

Yesterday I was watching TV when, suddenly, my subconcious asked me "Why are you still looking for restaurants if "EP" is the only one you've liked and going to like?" I send an email to Valéry right away telling him that and when he came back from work we picked the date.

Next Friday or Monday, I will go to talk with the priest of the sanctuary next to the restaurant to see if it is available for that day. I hope he says "yes". It is a very nice place. If that one is not available, I have some others in mind, just in case...
